For participants in study abroad programs, research activities, academic conferences, etc. organized by Kanazawa University or partner universities.
For students who make individual arrangements for study abroad or sightseeing.
Please fill out the emergency contact information to carry with you when traveling.
Before Departure: Necessary documents to be submitted & Formats for download
Submit the form “Overseas Travel Notification”
* All students must submit it prior to the departure. 4 weeks ahead is preferred. To fill out the form, you will need your flight e-tickets, overseas travel insurance certificate, and passport.
A Microsoft 365 license is required to fill in the Overseas Travel Notification Form. If you do not have the license, please apply for Microsoft 365 usage from the Emerging Media Initiative, Kanazawa University website and obtain a login account and password.

Submit the form “KU Study Abroad Programs Participation Pledge” and “Personal Health Declaration Form.”

Before Departure: Apply for the Overseas Travel Insurance and the Crisis and Risk Management Service
※ Travels for the following reasons are not covered by the “Futai-Kaigaku” insurance and crisis and risk management services.
a. International students temporarily returning from Japan (without any research/study-related purpose)
b. Personal trip without any research/study-related purpose
① The Overseas Travel Insurance specified by KU: “FUTAI-KAIGAKU”
(Head Insurance Company: Tokyo Marine & Nichido Fire Insurance Co., Ltd.)
- The Overseas Travel Insurance founded by Japan Educational Exchanges and Services (JEES) for the university students in Japan.
- Over 350 universities adopted this insurance, and the price is affordable with the discount (In 2023, the price is discounted 45.6%).
- The coverage is good compared to other insurances such as “Medical Rescuer’s Expenses: unlimited”, etc.
- The university can acquire the information of accidents in case of crisis related to insurance coverage.
② The Risk and Management Services specified by KU: Japan IR&C Corporation
- During the study abroad, the students and guardians can use the Consultation desk which is open 24-hour, 365 days.
- Emergency response support in situations that is not covered by overseas travel insurance (terrorism, disaster, serious illness, etc.).
③ Gakkensai “FUTAI-BAISEKI” ※for those traveling overseas for internship or volunteer.
- Pays damages for accidents that occur during internships, nursing care experience, educational practice and other designated activities as well as during transit.

Plan A, B, and C
- Standard Plan for Overseas Travel Insurance (Except when you must subscribe to other overseas travel insurance.)
- Medical Rescuer’s Expenses is “unlimited.”
- The difference of Plan A, B, C depends on the enrollment period.
・Up to 31 days = Plan A
・From 32 days to less than 3 months = Plan B
・From 3 months to 1year = Plan C

Plan D
- This is the plan for those who must purchase other local medical insurance specified by the host institution or country.
- This plan compensates the coverage not covered by the local medical insurance such as Personal Liability, Checked Baggage Delay, etc.

Plan E
- This is the plan for those who must purchase other overseas travel insurance specified by program, etc
- In order to purchase Plan E, you must be subject to other travel insurance and the limit of indemnity coverage of the “Medical Rescuer’s Expenses” must be over 30,000,000 yen (30 million) .
