11月22日，グアテマラ文化スポーツ省のJuan Carlos Perez 副大臣一行が本学を訪問し，本学人間社会研究域とグアテマラ・文化スポーツ省文化自然遺産局との間で交流意向書を交換しました。
この交流意向書は，「世界複合遺産ティカル遺跡総合プロジェクト」の実施に向けて，両機関が協力していくことを確認するためのものです。本プロジェクトはマヤ文明を代表とする文化遺産と生物多様性に富む自然保護地域から構成されるティカル国立公園の保存・修復及び研究活動の拠点となる施設（文化遺産保存研究センター）を整備し，文化遺産保護に関わる人材・組織を支援するとともに，グアテマラ国民及び海外からの旅行者に対して教育・普及サービスを提供することを目的としています。
その後，訪問団は人間社会研究域の中村慎一教授とともに中村信一学長を表敬しました。中村学長からは「金沢大学の文化資源学を世界的なものとしたい」と意欲が示されました。
On November 22nd, Vice Minister Juan Carlos Perez, Ministry of Culture and Sports of Guatemala and other staff members visited Kanazawa University and exchanged Letter of Intention between the Institute of Human and Social Sciences of Kanazawa University and the General Direction of Cultural and Natural Heritage of the Ministry of Culture and Sports.
This Letter of Intention is to confirm cooperation between both institutions in implementation of Tikal Ruins Project. This project aims at preserving and restoring the Tikal National Park consisting of cultural heritages including Mayan civilization, in particular, and of nature conservation area abound in biological diversity, establishing “the Preservation and Research Center for the Cultural Heritage” as a research base facility, supporting personnel and institutions engaged in preservation of cultural heritage, and providing education and promotion service to people of Guatemala and travelers from abroad.
After that, the delegation accompanied by Prof. Shin-ichi Nakamura from Institute of Human and Social Sciences made a courtesy call on President Shin-ichi Nakamura. President expressed a desire to make Cultural Resources Studies at Kanazawa University world-famous.
