12月16日，環日本海域環境研究センターの塚脇真二教授が，カンボジア王国シェムリアプで開催されたユネスコ/アンコール世界遺産国際管理運営委員会（UNESCO/ICC-Angkor）第29回国際管理運営委員会において，カンボジア王国政府のマエン・サムオーン副首相より「カンボジア王国友好勲章（サハメトレイ勲章）大十字章（Royal Order of Sahametrei Grand Cross）」を授与されました。
この勲章は，カンボジアの国王と国民のために，対外関係や外交的任務の分野で傑出した貢献を果たした外国人に友情の印として与えられるもので，塚脇教授は，アンコール世界遺産における環境保全や地域社会支援などにかかるUNESCO/ICC-Angkorの特別専門家委員としての長年の貢献が評価されました。大十字章はこの勲章の最高位です。

Professor S. Tsukawaki at Institute of Nature and Environmental Technology received the Royal Order of Sahametrei Grand Cross
Professor Shinji TSUKAWAKI at the Institute of Nature and Environmental Technology received the “Royal Order of Sahametrei, Grand Cross” from the Kingdom of Cambodia for his long-standing contribution to sustaining the natural and cultural environment in the Angkor Heritage site as an ad hoc expert of the UNESCO/ICC-Angkor. On December 16, 2022, Professor Tsukawaki received the decoration from H.E. Madam MEN Sam An, Deputy Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Cambodia. The decoration ceremony was held during the 29th Plenary Session of the International Coordinating Committee for the Safeguarding and Development of the Historic Site of Angkor (UNESCO/ICC-Angkor) in Siem Reap, Cambodia.
