11月21日，25年にわたり本学の留学生教育に多大なご支援をいただいた陶芸家・大樋年雄（十一代大樋長左衛門）氏に感謝状を贈呈しました。大樋氏は，本学の客員教授として大樋焼にかかる授業を開講しており，2023年7月には，2022年度の恩賜賞・日本芸術院賞を受賞されました。
贈呈式では，和田学長が大樋氏に対し，長きにわたり本学の留学生教育に尽力され，留学生の日本文化理解に多大な貢献をされたことに感謝の意を表しました。
贈呈式後，本学留学生教育に関わる教員等を交え，留学生教育の現状や自文化理解の重要性等について，和やかな雰囲気の中，懇談しました。
Presentation of Certificate of Appreciation to Contributor to International Student Education
On November 21, we presented a certificate of appreciation to ceramic artist Toshio Ohi (Chozaemon XI) for his 25-year contribution to international student education at Kanazawa University. Mr. Ohi has been teaching classes on “Ohi-yaki” as a Visiting Professor, and in July 2023, he was honored with the Imperial Prize and the Japan Art Academy Prize for the year 2022.
During the presentation ceremony, President Wada expressed his gratitude to Mr. Ohi for his longstanding dedication to international student education and his significant contribution to enhancing the understanding of Japanese culture among international students.
Following the presentation ceremony, a friendly discussion took place with faculty members involved in international student education. The covered topics included the current state of international student education and the importance of understanding one’s own culture.
