7月23日，アメリカ合衆国のタフツ大学からチャールス・イノウエ ドイツ語・ロシア語・アジア言語学科教授を講師に迎え，本学学生や教職員約80名を対象に特別講義を開講しました。イノウエ教授は「ネオ・アニミズム：ポストヒューマンの時代における生命の意味」をテーマに講義を行い，参加者らはポストモダン社会とスピリチュアリティの関係について，理解を深めました。
また，講義後，イノウエ教授およびタフツ大学レジデントディレクターの下家園子氏が山崎学長を訪問。両氏の本学への長年にわたる貢献に対し山崎学長から感謝状が手渡され，その後の懇談では，本学とタフツ大学とのさらなる学生・研究交流などについて意見交換が行われるなど，充実した機会となりました。
On July 23, Professor Charles Inouye from the Department of German, Russian and Asian Languages and Literatures of Tufts University in the United States visited Kanazawa University and gave a special lecture for approximately 80 students, faculty and staff. Professor Inouye lectured on “Neo-Animism: The Meaning of Life in the Posthuman Era,” and the audience gained a deeper understanding of the relationship between the postmodern society and spirituality.
After the lecture, Professor Inouye and Ms. Sonoko Shimoie, Tufts University Resident Director, paid a courtesy visit to President Yamazaki. At the meeting, the President handed the official certificates of appreciation to Professor Inouye and Ms. Shimoie for their many years of contributions to the exchanges. Afterward, there was a discussion about promoting further student and research exchanges between the two universities. The meeting was a meaningful opportunity for both parties.
