7月8日から15日の8日間，白山ユネスコエコパークエリアである南砺市五箇山の小原集落および白山市白峰地区においてロシアの5つの大学からの留学生16名が合宿研修に参加しました。
この合宿研修は，「ロシア文化交流プログラム」の一環として，生物圏保護地域の生物多様性や地域問題について体験を通じて学び，SDGs（持続可能な開発目標）を達成するために必要な持続可能な地域づくりを検討することを目的に，金沢大学が平成29年8月に採択された大学の世界展開力強化事業「日露をつなぐ未来共創リーダー育成プログラム」の一環として実施したものです。
五箇山合宿では，まず金沢大学五箇山セミナーハウス「助市」（すけち）にて，五箇山自然文化解説員が「五箇山の生活」について講義。その後の3日間，留学生たちは古民家「もよもん」に滞在しながら，イノシシの侵入を防ぐ電気柵の設置や防火槽の土砂上げ清掃作業に取り組むとともに，地元の食材を使った料理を味わい，民謡踊りの練習などの活動に参加しました。
白峰合宿では，留学生たちは金沢大学国際機構SDGsジオ・エコパーク研究センターである古民家「与平」に滞在し，白山ユネスコエコパークや関連施設の見学などを通じて，白峰の自然，歴史，文化を学びました。滞在中，留学生たちは白山市の山田憲昭市長と懇談し，持続可能な発展に向けて地域の課題と政策について意見を交換。さらに，13日に行われた「白山まつり」に日本人学生40名と共に参加し，地域の方々との交流を深めました。
プログラムの最終日には，「石川～ロシア大学交流コンソーシアム設立に関する覚書調印式および記念シンポジウム」において学習成果を発表しました。
From July 8 to 15, 16 international students from five Russian universities participated in training courses in Ohara Village of Gokayama, Nanto and Shiramine Village, Hakusan, both of which are areas of UNESCO Mount Hakusan Biosphere Reserve.
As part of the Cultural Exchange Program held by the Organization of Global Affairs, Kanazawa University, which aims at discussing problems in regional development for realizing the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), this training course provided the students opportunities to study the biological diversity and regional problems in these Biosphere Reserve areas through hands-on experiences.
In Gokayama area, the students first listened to the lecture “Life in Gokayama” from an expert specialized in the nature and culture of Gokayama, held in KU Gokayama Seminar House “Sukechi”. In the following three days, the students participated in setting up electric fence for preventing wild boars in the village, as well as in cleaning up the muds inside the fireproof water tank. In the evening, they enjoyed food cooked with fresh local vegetables in “Moyomon”, a traditional style house, and also tried traditional Japanese folk dance together with the local residents.
During the training in the Shiramine area, the students stayed at the “KU Organization for Global Affairs SDGs Biosphere Reserves, Geoparks Research Center (House Yohei)”, and actively visited museums, visitor centers and several other Mount Hakusan Biosphere Reserve-related places to learn about the natural, history and culture in Shiramine. They also participated in the “Hakusan Festival” on July 13 together with about 40 KU students, exchanging profound communication with the local residents as well. During the festival the students met with the mayor of Hakusan City, Mr.Noriaki YAMADA, and were able to directly ask about the regional issues and local policies towards the regional sustainable development.
On the last day of the program, the students presented their study results in the Symposium “Japanese-Russian University Cooperation to achieve Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
The Cultural Exchange Program was carried out as part of the “Training Program for Russia-Japan Innovative Leaders of Tomorrow” of Kanazawa University, selected by MEXT for the Inter-university Exchange Project in August 2017.
