3月26日，金沢大学本部棟前の標本木（ソメイヨシノ）で桜の開花が確認され，角間キャンパスでの桜の開花宣言がありました。
金沢大学は構内にソメイヨシノやヤマザクラなど約3,600本の桜の木を所有しており，金沢を代表する桜の名所の一つです。2016年2月27日付け日経プラスワン「何でもランキング」の「一度は歩いてみたい国内大学の桜名所ランキング」でも金沢大学角間キャンパスが西日本で見事1位になっています。

On March 26th, the blooming of cherry trees (Yoshino cherry) was confirmed on the specimen tree in front of the Kanazawa University main building, and the start of the flowering of the cherry blossoms was declared on Kakuma Campus.
Kanazawa University owns approximately 3,600 cherry trees on campus, including Yoshino cherry and Yamazakura, making it one of the representative cherry blossom viewing spots in Kanazawa. In the “Must-Walk University Cherry Blossom Spots in Japan Ranking” by Nikkei Plus One on February 27th, 2016, Kakuma Campus of Kanazawa University proudly secured the first place in Western Japan.
