7月29日，中国・中国科学院地理科学・資源研究所長一行が，中村学長を表敬訪問しました。劉所長ほか8名の訪問団一行は，今回，理工研究域との共同研究交流打合せ及び国際会議出席のため来日し，本学からは山崎理工研究域長，池本教授，沈准教授，伊藤人間社会研究域教授が同席しました。
本学と中国科学院地理科学・資源研究所は，2011年5月に大学間交流協定を締結。今回は，協定締結後初めての訪問であり，日本語・中国語・英語を交えながら質疑が交わされるなど，互いを知る良い機会となり，研究分野のみならず，教育分野においても，今後の交流促進に弾みをつけることができました。
On July 29, Director and other delegates from the Institute of Geographic Sciences and Natural Resources Research, Chinese Academy of Science, in China paid a courtesy visit to President Nakamura. Director Liu and eight other delegates came to Japan for a preliminary discussion with our College of Science and Engineering on joint research and cooperation, as well as an international conference hosted by our university. From our university, Dean Yamazaki, Professor Ikemoto and Associate Professor Shen from the Institute of Science and Engineering, Professor Ito from the Institute of Human and Social Sciences were in attendance. Our university and the Institute of Geographic Sciences and Natural Resources Research, CAS, have developed an interactive relationship centering on the Faculty of Environmental Design, Institute of Science and Engineering, and signed an Agreement of Partner Institutions in May this year. This visit was the first one since the signing of the Agreement, and it was an excellent opportunity to learn more about each other through a discussion in Japanese, Chinese, and English languages. The visit stimulated future interactions not only in research but also in education.
