2月21日，駐日アゼルバイジャン共和国大使館より特命全権大使ギュルセル・グドラト・オグル・イスマイルザーデ閣下が来学し，山崎光悦学長を表敬訪問しました。本学は本年1月24日にアゼルバイジャン関税委員会アカデミーと大学間交流協定を締結。また現在は，アゼルバイジャンのその他高等教育機関との交流事業開催に向け準備が進んでおり，このどちらにもイスマイルザーデ大使には深くご尽力いただいています。
アゼルバイジャン共和国は，2021年東京オリンピック、パラリンピックの際に石川県志賀町が同国パラリンピック水泳選手団のホストタウンを務めたことで石川県との縁もあります。また本年は，日本とアゼルバイジャンが外交関係樹立30周年を迎える記念の年でもあります。同国と日本，石川県との様々な文化交流・人的交流そして本学を含む高等教育機関間の研究交流が一層発展していくことが期待されます。
Ambassador of Azerbaijan Visits Kanazawa University
On February 21, His Excellency Mr. Gursel Gudrat oglu ISMAYILZADA Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Azerbaijan to Japan, paid a courtesy visit to President Yamazaki. Kanazawa University concluded a Memorandum of Understanding with Academy of the State Customs Committee of the Republic of Azerbaijan on January 24, 2022. In addition, there is ongoing preparation to hold a symposium with several institutions of higher education in the Republic of Azerbaijan. H.E. Ambassador Ismayilzada has deeply contributed to both events. The Republic of Azerbaijan is also related to Ishikawa prefecture, since Shika-machi in Ishikawa prefecture served as host town for Azerbaijan paralympic swim team for the 2021 Tokyo Olympics and Paralympics.
This year marks the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the Republic of Azerbaijan and Japan. It is expected that various cultural and personal exchanges between the two countries, as well as research exchanges between higher education institutions, will further develop in the future.
