Consul and Trade Commissioner, Australian Consulate-General Osaka Visits Kanazawa University
On February 21, Ms. Sharon Bignell, Consul and Trade Commissioner, Australian Consulate-General Osaka and another delegate from Australian Embassy paid a courtesy visit to President Yamazaki. Since both the Australian and Japanese governments took strict border control measures against the new coronavirus from the early stage, there were active discussions held about the impact on student and researcher exchange, countermeasures, the current situation, and future possibilities. On the same day, Consul Bignell, who has extensive experience in the field of education, kindly offered an opportunity to exchange information about various inbound and outbound programs. Prof. Heiko Bittmann and members from the International Relations Department attended the meeting and had a chance to explore possibilities. Since December 15, 2021, Australia has eased immigration restrictions for Japanese nationalities who have completed vaccination. (Entry rules vary by state and territory.)
