7月10日，在ホンジュラス日本国特命全権大使の岡田憲治氏を講師に迎え，本学学生や教職員約45名を対象に講演会を開催しました。岡田氏は中米ホンジュラスにおいて日本が行っている援助や，本学の人間社会研究域附属国際文化資源学研究センターの中村誠一教授が関わる現地での遺跡博物館設立への支援について講演。また，現地政府が制作した世界遺産「コパンのマヤ遺跡」のバーチャルリアリティ映像も上映され，日本にいながらにして参加者らは現地の遺跡を体感し，理解を深めました。
また，講演に先立ち，岡田氏は山崎学長を訪問。懇談では，人間社会研究域附属国際文化資源学研究センターのマヤ遺跡等での研究をはじめ，さらなる交流の可能性について意見交換が行われ，充実した機会となりました。
On July 10, H.E. Kenji Okada, Japanese Ambassador to Honduras, paid a courtesy visit to President Yamazaki. At the meeting, there was a discussion about the on-going project at the Mayan Site at Copan by the Center for Cultural Resource Studies and the possibility of further cooperation and exchanges with Honduras. The meeting was a meaningful opportunity for both parties.
Also, during the visit, H.E. Okada participated in a discussion session with the students from the College of Human and Social Sciences.
