金沢大学環日本海域環境研究センターの海外分室では，中国，韓国，ロシアにおいて環日本海域の環境のより深い理解とそれに基づく社会の発展を目指してさまざまな活動を続けております。
このたび，それらの国々から若い研究者を迎え，日本の若手研究者と環日本海域のさまざまな環境や環境の保全・創造を主題にした学術交流会を持つことになりました。金沢大学環日本海域環境研究センター及び金沢大学フロンティアサイエンス機構では，次代を担う若手研究者の学術交流会が成功裏に終わり大きな成果が残るよう，強力な支援体制を作って準備にあたってきました。
シンポジウムは，珠洲市と金沢市を中心に開催される予定であります。珠洲を始め能登の各地は古くから大陸側の諸地域とさまざまな交流があった地域であります。いま，環日本海域はさまざまな緊張が存在し，多くの解決すべき問題が横たわっております。そんななかで，若い世代の研究者が国際交流を深めるべく，歴史的にふかいゆかりを持つ地を選んで学術シンポジウムを開催するに至ったということにある種の感慨を感じさせます。
シンポジウムはきわめて明るい雰囲気でなされるよう，また国際交流の実が上がるよう，関係者一堂，鋭意準備しております。ここに，シンポジウムのご案内をさせていただくとともに，多数の皆さまがご参加されますよう心からお待ちしております。
