2月5日，6日の2日間，金沢大学は，チェンマイ大学とのジョイントシンポジウムを開催し，本学の中村信一学長，チェンマイ大学のニウェス・ナンタチット学長をはじめ，両大学の理事，教員ら約30名が参加しました。
同シンポジウムは，2008年1月に締結した大学間国際交流協定の一環として，今年チェンマイ大学が創立50周年を迎えるこの機会に，両大学の研究交流と親交をさらに深めていくことを目的に開催したものです。チェンマイ大学を会場として開催された今回のシンポジウムでは，両大学の最先端研究の発表や，両大学間の研究者・学生交流および協同活動について協議するラウンドテーブル・ディスカッションが行われました。
また，6日には，チェンマイ大学の工学系，医学系の研究施設を視察し，研究概要および最新の研究成果等について説明を受けるなど，充実した2日間となりました。
On February 5th and 6th, Kanazawa University co-hosted a joint symposium with Chiang Mai University, and approximately 30 participants including President Shin-ichi Nakamura, President Niwes Nantachit of Chiang Mai University, and vice presidents and faculty members from both universities took part.
This symposium was organized based on the university-level international partnership which was concluded in January 2008, and took place on the 50th foundation anniversary year for Chiang Mai University, with the purpose of promoting research exchange and bringing the two universities even closer. The event was held on Chiang Mai University campus, and there were presentations of the most advanced research results as well as a roundtable discussion on the future researcher and student exchange activities.
On the 6th, Kanazawa University delegates went on tours of engineering and medical research facilities at Chiang Mai University, and received explanations about the research work and the newest results. The visit was very meaningful for both sides.
