Community Learning “Super” Experience Program took place in Ogi, Noto, from October 7 to 10, and 19 students including international students joined the event.

This program consists of prep classes (3 times), camp (3 days and 2 nights), review class (once), report meeting, and final report.

Its aim is to nurture human resilience which will help the students train and develop oneself through recognizing the importance of physical and mental strength, accepting diverse ways of thinking, and being aware that they are members of the society in an environment where they share joys and sorrows with each other.

The participants experienced Zen meditation, worked together, stayed at local residents’ houses, and listened to the lectures by President Koetsu Yamazaki and Vice President Yoshihiro Fukumori. They cooperated with each other in mowing the grass beside the farm road, and checked the condition of trees planted last year. At the Noto Marine Laboratory of the Institute of Nature and Environmental Technology, they observed marine life from the boar, and measured the water clarity and temperature. Then, they joined their host family and deepened their understanding of the area through working and talking with them. In addition, there was a new lecture this time by Mr. Kaichiro Kazuma, a graduate of Kanazawa University and the CEO of Kazuma Sake Brewery.,Co.Ltd. The lecture helped the students deepen their understanding of diverse lifestyles adapted to the region. On the final day, Mr. Kazushige Mochiki, Mayor of Noto, attended the home-stay report meeting, some participants said that there were a lot of things they never knew until they visited Ogi in person. Others said that they learned a lot about Ogi but couldn’t explain about their own region at all, so they’d like to study about the local region more. These experiences inspired and helped the students to find the charms of Ogi area and to look back at themselves. Afterward, the students will take a review class, submit the final report, and receive 1 credit.

This year’s program will be held 4 times and the next one will take place from February 10 to 12 in Gokayama.
